Cars Need Love Too…

15 Apr

Spring Cleaning Challenge, halfway through the month and I have only completed two things on my list. Time to get busy! Next up my car! Cars need organization love too!

1. Playroom

2. Clean Out Refrigerator

4. Nightstand Drawer

5. Tupperware Drawer

6. Switch Seasonal Clothing

7. Windows

8. Air Registers

9. Clean Out Cars

10. Clean Out Kitchen Drawer

First things first, clean out the junk! I never seem to be able to get everything out of the car, at the end of the day. This means things start to pile up. The usual culprits are coats, cups, toys, bags, you name it. Time to empty it out and put everything away.   IMG_4162

Next, I emptied all of the junk from the cup holder area and gave the entire car a good vacuum! Nice… look at all those crumbs!   IMG_4163 Once the car was clean, I wanted to add some organization. My car (Yukon XL) has a large space in front of the cup holders. It is great, but it ends up being a dumping ground for junk! It needed some organizational structure! IMG_4161

I wanted to divide the space, so I chose these clear containers from The Container Store. They are all different sizes, so you can customize your space. They are super inexpensive, ranging from $2.99 to $4.99 each. StackableDrawerOrg100437G_x This is how they look in my car. I love it already!

The next step is my favorite… loading my things back into the space. Now, I have a space for coins, ear buds, pens, sunglasses, gum, phone wallet and a notepad. It looks amazing and makes me happy every time I get in the car!

Next, I needed something for the back of the car, between my kids seats. I wanted something to hold paper towels, movies and toys, diapers and wipes, first aid kit, etc… I chose this bin from The Container Store.   RugbyStripeBin_l It fits perfectly in between the seats and helps keep the back of the car organized!

I spend a lot of time in my car, so why not make it lovely?!

Spring Cleaning Challenge

Spring is here! Finally! It is my favorite time of the year, the days are longer and warmer! I am always ready to pack away the coats and boots and pull out the shorts and sandals!

Spring cleaning has always been one of my favorite activities, it is so therapeutic to me! It is like a fresh start to a new year. A time to shake off winter and prepare for summer!

I have to say the more I organize for clients the less organized my own home seems, busy… busy. I typically organize based on frustration. You know that feeling you get when you cannot find what you are looking for or when a drawer will not shut. For instance, the current state of my tupperware drawer. So I made a list of ten things that have been bothering or frustrating me and I am going to tackle them in April!

Here is a peak at my list…

1. Playroom

2. Clean Out Refrigerator

4. Nightstand Drawer

5. Tupperware Drawer

6. Switch Seasonal Clothing

7. Windows

8. Air Registers

9. Clean Out Cars

10. Clean Out Kitchen Drawer

First project… the playroom!

I think this explains why I don’t spend much time cleaning or organizing the playroom…

This is totally my house, now that my littlest one is on the move! My son’s favorite thing to do is get things out. I put everything up and he has the best time getting it all back out! Stinker…

I removed the rug, all the large toys, and furniture. Then gave the floor and baseboards a good scrub. Then I did a basic sort and purge of the toys. My little one is about to turn one, so time to make room for new toys.

It will only be a matter of days before it is a mess again, but in the meantime it looks so nice… Ahh!

Spring Cleaning!

13 Mar

Spring is coming and the warmer temperatures have me thinking about Spring Cleaning! It is one of my favorite things to do!

You can search the internet for Spring Cleaning lists, most of which I think are a little over the top. I personally think it is more effective to use internet lists as a guide only. I recommend going room by room and make your own list.

This is an example of my list:

Open the Windows and Turn on Some Music

Bedrooms: Clean Bed Linens, Pillows, etc…

Kitchen: Clean Refrigerator, Wipe/Vacuum Out Drawers and Cabinets, etc…

All Rooms: Clean Light Fixtures, Fans, Doors, Light Switches, Baseboards, Windows, etc…

Floors: Carpets/Rugs Cleaned

Garage: Organize and Clean

Closets: Switch Out Seasonal Clothes and Donate Unused Items

Outside: Power Wash, Plant Flowers, Mulch Flowers Beds, make a New Wreath…

My Personal Favorite have a Garage Sale = Get Rid of Clutter and Make Money!

Happy Cleaning!
