Do you love decorating your kids rooms? Oh, I do!
I loved my little girl’s nursery, but before our son was born I wanted to give her a Big Girl Room! So I looked for inspiration on Pinterest and then got to work. Here is my inspiration board…
The best thing about this makeover is that it did not cost much at all! I used all the furniture from her nursery, except the crib. She already had a queen sized bed in her room, that we were using as a day bed.
We had the walls painted, recovered the existing head board, had pillows made, and purchased new bedding!
The bedding was very inexpensive. I bought the pink reversible quilt and euro shams from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. The white duvet and feather insert are from Target. I absolutely did not want to spend a lot of money on bedding. She is an active four year old, so it is inevitable that it will get dirty or torn! So I decided to go inexpensive, so replacing it will not be an issue!
We did have the pillows custom made to give the otherwise plain bedding, some interest. See…
This is a DIY headboard, and it was easy! I should say it was easy, because I have a super handy husband! We just recovered it… again with inexpensive fabric. Given that my little girl does handstands and flips into it… I am glad we did not use anything super fancy!
The bookshelf is from Pottery Barn Kids and was originally in her playroom. The bookshelf on the wall is actually a re-purposed china shelf I found at an antique mall. It holds all of her pretty books!
This artwork was also purchased at an antique mall! It looks like something she would have painted… wait maybe I should have let her paint the artwork? Oh well! I used a garage sale frame, spray painted it pink, and added a gallery mat. The frame and artwork cost under $60.
My husband built this… to store all of her dress-up dresses and costumes! Here is a link to the instructions we used as a guideline…
Her dresser and mirror were also purchased at an antique mall for under $300! Seriously, can you tell I love shopping at antique malls? I think it might be an addiction!
This is one of my favorite rooms in the house! Who doesn’t love little girls rooms? What do you love about it?
